Synopsis
A small town lies in limbo some 50 years after a horrific accident that saw a train plow into a school bus filled with children. Personal Thoughts
While renting movies from Blockbuster in years passed, I've walked by this movie several times, always noticing the girl on the cover. I may have even read the back of the DVD once or twice. I'm surprised it took me so long to see this one. This movie ended up being different from what I was expecting. (from observing the cover, one might anticipate a movie like Village of the Damned-1995 or The Plague-2006).
One the contrary, it's a ghost story, murder mystery and slasher tied in one.
Fingerprints is said to be loosely based on an urban legend centered around a school bus full of children that was involved in a terrible accident with a train, leaving all the children dead. According to the legend, if a driver stops his or hers vehicle on the same stretch of tracks, the ghosts of the children will push it to a safe area.
Overall, I thought Fingerprints was an average movie. Not great, not terrible ... just one of those movies that finds its place right in the middle. The beginning was cool, I liked the back story of the children, I liked the mood and ghostly undertones of the movie. However, I thought certain aspects of the plot could have been better.
In all, I give it about a C. May not be a bad movie to check out if you like these kind of movies.
