Synopsis

Scientists working in Antarctica are forced to abandon their research after a helicopter crashes near their camp, bringing a lone dog into their midst. But the plot thickens when the otherworldly canine changes form in the middle of the night. As it turns out, the dog is a shape-shifting alien that can attack animals -- and unsuspecting humans. Kurt Russell stars in this creepy John Carpenter-directed remake of the 1950s classic.

Personal Thoughts

John Carpenters "The Thing" is a remake of the 1951 classic "The Thing From Another World" and is based on the 1938 novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr. I hadn't seen The Thing in years, but I always remembered thinking it was gross, and after watching it again, that opinion hasn't changed. The situation the characters find themselves in, totally sucks! I kept thinking how terrible it would be, to be suck in the cold antarctic, isolated and far away from civilization, with a monster going around mimicking and killin' folks! You don't know who to trust because anyone could potentially be the thing.

In any event, I enjoyed this movie as much today as I did back then. I hear a prequel is set to come out this year ... it'll be interesting to see how that turns out.
