Synopsis

Dreading the annual family road trip to Grandmother's house for Christmas, Frank (Ray Wise) and his wife (Lin Shaye) opt for an unfamiliar route through the forest. They'll wish they hadn't when they stop to help a mysterious woman who seems to be holding a dead baby. As the bodies pile up, a hearse with an invisible driver arrives to cart away the victims, and those who survive descend into madness.

Personal Thoughts

Dead End wasn't a great movie by any stretch of the imagination (it definitely had its share of plot holes), but this movie freaked me out! That black hearse was absolutely terrifying.

This movie kind of dragged on a bit, mixing good parts with dumb parts ... good acting with dumb acting ... but it still managed to keep me interested for the entire movie. Almost the entire time, I found myself saying, "where are they going with this ... how is this going to end?"

Some of the choices the character's make are just outright foolish, and make you say, "okay, this is stupid" ... but the premise of the movie disturbed me and my wife. My wife turned to me and said, "for a movie that's not that good, it sure is kind of scary!"

Right as I was about to check this movie off as being too weird and dumb for my taste, the ending comes along and redeems it just enough for me to say it was worth watching. Interestingly enough, I actually ended up enjoying this one more than I thought I would!
