Synopsis
For Kirsty Cotton (Ashley Laurence), the nightmares never end. Still fresh in her fevered memory are her father's skinned corpse, the evil machinations of her uncle Frank's reanimated body and the unspeakable perversity of the Cenobites. Personal Thoughts
There's no way around it, Hellraiser's just not my cup of tea. Over the years, I've tried watching them time and time again, each time telling myself, "You gotta be missing something." Most true horror fans seem to like the first two Hellraisers (which becomes apparent when see their ratings at IMDB or amazon), but for whatever reason, they just don't do nothing for me.
Maybe I'm not diggin' them because I think they're gross, maybe it's because I think the plot's not strong enough, maybe it's because I think they go overboard with bloody grotesque caricatures, and things coming out of other things with eyes/teeth or what have you ... whatever the reasons are, every time I try to give these movies another shot, I inevitably come to the same conclusion, that they're just not for me. I love the idea of the puzzle box, I love the pinhead character, and I love pinhead's back story, but that's about all I'm really diggin' here.
In any event, I know it's one of the staple horror movies of the 80's, and I know it's a bit of a classic, so you should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it already.
